Set up
The Youshiko wifi weather station has 6 sensors in a single unit for you to position outside, preferably away from buildings if the wind data is to be accurate. The transmission range is 150m and and can pass through one or two walls to reach the receiving console. The receiving console just has a single power cable and has no connection to your PC. There is also a single separate indoor sensor for temperature and humidity supplied - though you may connect wirelessly up to 7 of these indoor sensors.
Features
This advanced model comes with a simple and attractive display unit. The display itself can be set to loop between 256 colours or you may choose one of 8 colours manually, another option is to have the display colour automatically change with the outdoor temperature. Apart from your weather data you'll see the time, calendar and day of the week.
The weather station unit in your house receives the data from the 6-in-1 weather sensor via 868 MHz RF transmission.
You can see both the indoor and outdoor temperatures and humidity, and also a comfort indication.
For wind you can see the gust and average wind speed in a selection of units (mph, m/s, km/h, knots). Both real time and prevailing wind direction are available.
For rain fall you get a current rain rate plus daily, weekly and monthly rainfall totals in inches or mm. There's also a bar chart available fo the rain for the last 5 days.
The display unit incorporates a weather forecast function e.g. sunny, partly cloudy, cloudy, rainy, stormy, snowy.
One special feature is a buzzer alarm clock with ice pre-alert function to warn you if ice is likely.
For barometric pressure you can view relative or absolute readings in hPa, inHg, mmHg, plus these a chart of the pressure change for the last 1, 3, 6, 12, 24 hours.
Bonus features include a weather index for indoor dew-point, Wind chill, heat index, beaufort wind speed and UV.
The maximum and minimum memory function records with time-date stamps for the last 24 hours.
You can have alerts when high or low readings are met for both indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity.
You can also set a high alert reading for wind-speed, and daily rainfall and pressure drop.
There is a flashing indicator and LED indicator for weather alerts.
The back light can be set to 3 modes of brightness: High, Low and Off.
The unit also supports 7 languages for weekday (EN/ FR/ DE/ ES/ IT/ NL, RU).
Conclusion
This Youshiko weather station with Wifi connectivity and direct upload to Wunderground website is one of the most advanced personal weather stations available at this mid-range price point. Not only can it support the one extra temperature / humidity sensor for the indoors - but you could monitor up to 7 rooms by buying extra sensors. This kind of flexibility isn't found on the cheaper USB model. Also the USB model must be connected to switched on PC for the Wunderground updates to work, if you're keen on that feature this unit is a far better buy.
